noticed one of the coats had fallen of f the rack and was lying around on the floor....figured i’d go hang it back up...neat und tidy yes?
anyhoo...when i tried to pick it up it ran away
yep...i died of a heart attack...i got over it
at almost 6 am i am not mentally equipped to deal with sentient coats....
fucking cats....

As I started to put the Jeep soft top up a few weeks ago a mouse scurried away from inside the folds. I know exactly how you feel.
Finally had to put a trap in the passenger seat footwell because it was shitting everywhere. Sorry rodent.

I just tried and failed to save someone’s pet cat from the m ain s treet in my neighborhood and I am not having a good evening. Fuck this year is awful.

Sorry to hear that.
On one meandering road trip to see family in Florida, I rescued a couple of turtles, but a huge one I couldn’t rescue still haunts me. I pulled over as quickly as I could, grabbed my gloves, started running alongside the road and waving frantically at the oncoming drivers, but they weren’t paying attention.
The first one swerved just in time, but the driver behind them didn’t. Lots of loud, angry, foul words were expressed.

On the other hand, think how many critters you can save because you were there and paying attention.
I even escorted a snake off the road once. That was entertaining.

Oof. I’m just glad you’re ok.
I’ve definitely failed on occasion. I also deliberately failed once; I spotted a small bird that was freezing to death in some ice water in the road. Clearly hurt, nothing I could do for it, so I drove over it.
Painful even to type that.

I stayed at a friend’s house over labor day weekend. And they had an outdoor cat. Well the friend hadn’t fed the cat dinner in time, so the cat fed itself. Woke up to baby bunny squeals. Had to just step on it since the cat was just playing with the severely injured animal.
Then it went and got another one... luckily the cat actually took care of that one in a timely fashion.
